If you are already covered by an equivalent Health and Dental plan you may opt out by visiting www.studentplans.ca. If you are an eligible student and have comparable health and or dental coverage you may apply to waive benefits. Each student is given one opportunity to waive benefits under the health and or dental plan each year.
Please note that the Medical Services Plan (MSP) is not considered to be equivalent to the SUVCC Health and Dental Plan.
The easiest and quickest way to opt out is online at www.studentplans.ca. If your application is approved, your VCC account will be credited if there is any amount owing. If you have no amount owing, you will be mailed a cheque. There are no exceptions or extensions for students who do not submit their completed application to the Student’s Union by the deadline.
Once your form has been accepted you will not be on the plan as long as you are an eligible student.
Claims processing may take up to 2 months while we wait for Vancouver Community College to confirm your enrollment. Any health or dental costs during the black out period will have to be paid up front, you will not be able to use your benefits card. Save yout receipts for covered costs and then mail them to Greenshield after the black out period is over. Green Shield will mail you a reimbursement check for the costs that are covered under the plan.
Student Benefits Cards are available to download and print off from www.greenshield.ca/studentcentre or pick one up at the Students’ Union Space.
Fill in the name that is on your VCC ID.
Your Health Number is your VCC Student Number but you have to drop the first three 0′s.

Present your card to most pharmacists or dentists in Canada to have your claims automatically processed. Once processed, you will not have to pay the full amount of your bill.
